Oneida Twp - Strange Hwy road closure - Friday, August 2, 2019

Oneida Township

Strange Hwy between Oneida Rd and M-100 will be closed beginning Monday, August 5 for a drain project. The road is expected to be closed for a couple of weeks.

The posted detour will use Oneida Rd, Mt. Hope Hwy, and M-100.

Project Update for St. Joe Hwy between M-100 & Nixon - Thursday, August 1, 2019

Delta & Oneida Townships

Pulverizing, grading, and compacting will begin this afternoon (8/1) or tomorrow morning (8/2) on St. Joe Hwy between M-100 and Nixon Rd. This work includes a large pulverizing machine, grader, roller, work trucks, semis to deliver the equipment... in other words, this is a big operation with multiple large pieces of equipment.

This section of road will continue to be closed to through traffic during the work, but access to local residences and businesses will be maintained, including the Grand Ledge Country Club. With this type of operation, expect increased delays if you must enter the construction zone.

After the road is pulverized, rough graded, and compacted, a finish grading operation will be done to prepare the surface for paving. This is expected to take approximately two weeks. Paving and gravel shoulders will follow shortly after.

  • Nixon Road from M-43 to Willow: Paving will continue on the travel lanes. Traffic will be maintained in one lane using flaggers, but there may be significant delays. Avoid this area if possible.

Oneida Township

  • Curb and gutter repairs will continue in the Fieldstone Farms subdivision (Stone Bluff, Millstone, Tall Oaks) off of Saginaw Hwy. You may experience delays.

Brookfield Township

  • Paving Spicerville Hwy from Sherman to Narrow Lake. Expect delays.

Delta Township

  • Nixon Road from M-43 to Willow: Paving will begin on the driveway approaches and the area that is widened. Traffic will be maintained but delays should be expected.
  • Paving Lanac St and Ena Dr. Expect delays.

Oneida Township

  • Curb and gutter repairs will begin in the Fieldstone Farms subdivision (Stone Bluff, Millstone, Tall Oaks) off of Saginaw Hwy. You may experience delays.

 

Project Updates - Wednesday, July 24, 2019

Battle Creek Rd, Carlisle to Five Point (Carmel Township): Paving along the newly constructed curb and gutter is expected to begin Thursday or Friday of this week (7/25 or 7/26). Milling the existing asphalt is scheduled to begin next Tuesday (7/30). Paving should follow shortly after. The entire project is still on schedule to be complete and open to traffic by August 16.

Five Point Hwy, Young to Battle Creek (Kalamo & Carmel Townships): Equipment failures have delayed the crushing operation. The pulverizing is scheduled to continue today (7/24) or Thursday (7/25). After the road is pulverized, graded and compacted, Five Point Hwy will be paved.

Otto Rd, Packard to Lansing (Eaton Township): Gravel has been placed over the existing pavement to prepare for crushing & shaping.  After the crushing operation is complete on Five Point, the pulverizer will move to Otto Rd to begin crushing that pavement to prepare the road for paving. Otto Rd will remain closed to through traffic until paving is complete and shoulders have been placed.

St. Joe Hwy, Mulliken to Boyer and Fees to Oneida (Roxand & Oneida Townships): Gravel has been placed over the existing pavement to prepare for crushing and shaping. After the crushing operation is complete on Otto Rd, the pulverizer will move to St. Joe Hwy to continue the crushing & shaping operation. St. Joe Hwy will remain closed to through traffic until paving is complete and shoulders have been placed. Dust control is planned to help minimize dust from the new gravel.

Cochran Rd, Bellevue to Baseline (Brookfield Township): Paving should now be finished. Shoulders and final restoration is expected to be complete within a week. Other than final pavement markings, Cochran Rd should be complete and open to traffic before August 1.


 

Fog Sealing - week of July 22 - Wednesday, July 24, 2019

ECRC forces are fog sealing this week starting today in Carmel Township:

  • Beech Hwy from Wheaton to Charlotte city limit
  • Wheaton Rd from Valley to M-79

We will then move to:

Sunfield Township

  • Sunfield Rd from Mt. Hope to M-43
  • Ionia Rd from Mt. Hope to M-50

Chester Township

  • Mulliken Rd from Vermontville to M-50
  • Vermontville Hwy from Bradley to M-50
Traffic will be controlled using flaggers during the process. If you must travel through these areas, please pay attention and follow instructions.

 

Broadbent Road Closure - Thursday, August 1, 2019

Broadbent Road at the south side of Saginaw Hwy (M-43) will be closed beginning Monday, August 5 for approximately one week.

Consumers Energy will be installing a new gas distribution line across Broadbent and then boring a line underneath Saginaw Hwy. Traffic on M-43 should not be affected by the closure, but the gas line work will continue west along the north side of M-43 over the coming weeks and will require short therm closures on Greenfield, Madonna, and Dawnhaven at M-43.

The marked detour for the Broadbent closure will be Upton Rd to St. Joe Hwy back to Broadbent.

As always, please be careful and watch out for the workers and construction vehicles in that busy area.

  • Paving Hume Blvd, Blanche Ave, and Otis Ave. Access to homes will be maintained but delays should be expected.
  • Curb and gutter repairs in the Homestead Acres subdivision (Kenway, Farmstead, Green Meadows, Chanticleer, Windmill Ct, Apple Ridge, Homestead) Wednesday and Thursday. You may experience delays.
  • Widening of Nixon Road at its intersection with M-43 begins with surface milling at the curbed areas. Traffic will be maintained but delays should be expected.
