Battle Creek Road – Bradley Road to Five Point Hwy

Description: Bids were opened on April 3, 2020. Lakeland Asphalt located in Battle Creek, Michigan is the contractor.


Battle Creek Road from Five Point Highway to Carlisle Highway (City of Charlotte limits) is about 4.0 miles long. This $1,450,000 investment includes repairing joints and cracks in the underlying concrete pavement, trenching and paving the existing shoulders, asphalt surfacing over the existing pavement, culvert replacement, curb and gutter at the intersections, slope restoration, and minor ditching where necessary. Existing guardrail will be replacing with new guardrail.

This project is funded with Rural Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) and State Transportation and Economic Development (State D) funds administered through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), as well as local funding from the Eaton County Road Commission. The expected life of a road project such as this one is 20 years.


Battle Creek Road will be closed to through traffic from Bradley Road to Five Point Highway. The Ainger Road at Battle Creek Road intersection will be closed during this project. A detour will be posted using Lacey Lake Road and Five Point Highway. Freeway traffic exiting at Ainger Road will be detoured to Cochran Road.
